About Gottman Method Couples Therapy

The Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT) was developed by highly regarded researchers and psychologists, John Gottman and Julie Gottman. Beginning in the 1970s, their methodical research led to the creation of interventions that have been proven to significantly enhance relationships. Through their research, they have been able to design an effective approach to Couples Therapy, which is widely recognized and respected across the psychological community.

The Gottman Method has been implemented in couples therapy worldwide, leading to more meaningful and fulfilling relationships. By leveraging their vast experience in the field, John and Julie Gottman have made lasting contributions to psychology and have fundamentally improved the lives of countless individuals through the Gottman Method.

How Gottman Method Couples Therapy Works

The Gottman Method Couples Therapy is a comprehensive program that has the potential to bring about positive change in relationships. The program comprises several key components that work together to create a powerful impact.

Concepts such as Love Maps are explored in-depth to aid in building a strong foundation for a healthy relationship, while the Relationship Checkup helps to build a better understanding of oneself and their partner(s).

Therapy celebrates areas of strengths and working to strengthen areas of weakness. Through this systematic approach, couples can achieve significant and lasting transformation in their relationships.

Gottman Relationship Checkup

The Gottman Relationship Checkup is an online assessment that can significantly aid therapy sessions. Each individual in the relationship answers questions related to friendship, intimacy, emotions, conflict, values, and trust. There are also questions about parenting, housework, finances, and more!

The results will be reviewed in the following session. The 337 question comprehensive assessment will offer insight for the partner(s) about their relationship.  Please note, answers to specific questions are not shared in session.
